Thing #8

For this discovery we had to explore mashups at Flickr. I loved the spell with Flickr, but had trouble navigating the word to my blog. I will keep playing with it until I figure it out because I loved the use of photos for letters to create a word. As commented on in the instructions, this can be very addictive! Once I started playing with the puzzles, it was hard to stop! And the fact that you can buy them is great. I kept thinking of people who would enjoy a gift like that.

My puzzle is of the kindergarten celebration last year. My husband Glenn took this photo of students releasing their balloons at the end of the year. It would be great to use the puzzle application to create alphabet puzzles using pictures that begin with the letter, for example an apple for the letter A. Putting puzzles together would help fine motor skills and putting puzzles together was one of the students' favorite activities. Using Mappr would be great for a geography class. I would like to do a Flat Stanley project with my students and we could use the Mappr to see where Stanley has visited and where he is going next. The mosaic would be a great idea for class photos and to create a DVD for students to take home at the end of the year. Personally, all of these ideas could be incorporated into my hobby of scrapbooking to create some interesting pages. I still am not comfortable sharing photos publicly unless they are pretty generic.

  1. These things really are addictive. I spent forever on this Thing. I like your ideas for using these tools in the classroom and for your own personal use.
